A fit when…
- You primarily send broadcast newsletters.
- You want MCP without buying a creator marketing suite.
- You have checked which workflows you can retire.
Kit combines audience building with selling and automation. MailCheap offers a narrower publishing workflow for people who do not need that wider toolkit.
Research review: 26 October 2026 · By Yusuf Muritala · Desk research, not a hands-on test.
Keep Kit on your shortlist if automated sequences or product sales are central to your business. Its free tier also makes a strong case for smaller audiences. Consider MailCheap when you mainly broadcast issues and can put its included AI connection to practical use.
Our view: write down which journeys run while you are not working. If an onboarding sequence introduces an offer, follows up and sells a product, replacing it is more than importing addresses. Compare the maintenance effort of a replacement workflow with the subscription saving. If you have no such journeys, a narrower tool becomes easier to justify.

Estimate MailCheap costs using your actual bill ↗Export the required subscribers from Kit, retaining statuses. Document sequences, automation triggers and product delivery before moving. Reconcile cancelled and bounced contacts after import, and do not assume a sequence’s progress transfers with an email address.
Keep your original export. Test subscriber fields, suppression status, sender identity and signup links before your first campaign. Run a small validation send and allow time for the new provider’s onboarding process. Do not cancel your existing service until the replacement works.
Kit’s pricing page lists a free tier up to 10,000 subscribers. Paid automation and MCP requirements may change which tier you need.
The documented MailCheap automation is a welcome email. Treat a broader Kit sequence or funnel as a separate migration requirement.
