A fit when…
- You want its direct MCP publishing workflow.
- You do not depend on broader automations.
- Your verified bill shows a worthwhile saving.
EmailOctopus has a useful free entry tier and email-marketing workflows. MailCheap is worth comparing when you want its newsletter-focused approach and AI/API connection.
Research review: 26 October 2026 · By Yusuf Muritala · Desk research, not a hands-on test.
Start with EmailOctopus if its free tier covers your list and sending needs. At larger sizes, compare the exact allowances and workflows rather than assuming a huge saving. MailCheap’s price advantage in some weekly examples is small enough that a needed automation can matter more.
Our view: small differences deserve proportional decisions. A few dollars per month should not drive a disruptive move if a working automation or team process would be lost. When the gap is larger and your requirements are straightforward, the case for switching becomes stronger. Price your own workload before using any illustrative saving.

Estimate MailCheap costs using your actual bill ↗Export contacts with all relevant columns and retain a separate record of unsubscribed contacts. Review list structure and automation triggers before consolidating. MailCheap’s guide describes importing unsubscribe records too so they remain suppressed.
Keep your original export. Test subscriber fields, suppression status, sender identity and signup links before your first campaign. Run a small validation send and allow time for the new provider’s onboarding process. Do not cancel your existing service until the replacement works.
Not in every month. At 4.3 issues per month, that is about 10,750 emails, above the free 10,000-send allowance. Check your actual schedule.
Not in every scenario. The dated 10,000-reader example differs by $5.50 per month before feature differences, so workflow fit matters.
